The not fountain head
So...

Awhile back I posted about a tubed Bell PA amp that I bought for 10 bucks...

It came with two open back speaker cabs, each having 1 x 12" speakers.. pictures forthcoming..

I'm curious to hear a guitar amp driving these cabs...

My question is how to determine the ohmage rating of each speaker, so I can choose a jack on the back of a guitar amp to plug it into...

I suppose this is a bad idea.. the cabs look sweet though.. Maybe I'll just buy some vintage 30's and slap in there..

Thanks

The easiest way is to use an ohm meter. Check the resistance across the terminals of the speaker. Also you will want to use an amp with a similar output (watts) to the pa, you don't want to overload either the amp or the speakers.

The resistance you see with a meter will be lower than the impedance. 4ohm speakers usually measure 3.2-3.6ohms, 8ohm speakers in the range of 5.5-6.2.
