I currently have an alesis multimix 4, and am looking to upgrade to something like an echo layla 3g. I dont understand where I would plug my monitors into the layla though. On the alesis there are 2 main out jack sockets, on the Layla there are no main outs.
Does this mean that I need something else to be able to connect my speakers to the layla?
Sorry for the total noob question
thanks

There are 8 line outs on the rear. You will just need to assign the main outs to two of them. :) No apology necessary here. Well, unless you say something mean.

so there will be software where I can assign main outs( ie left and right channels) to 2 of the output jacks?
thanks

You will do that within your DAW. Which ever you decide to use.

ah ok, so then how would I use a layla for example, to listen to all my other pc , non daw sounds, eg firefox, WMP etc. Im guessing that windows will have a list of laylas outputs and let me assign them to left and right?
thanks for your help

Your Layla will in essence replace your computers soundcard. All computer sounds will play through it. You will select the Layla as your sound device.

Yes , I know that, but how will the layla know which outputs are left and right stereo, unless i tell it, like when I use a DAW

1&2 are typically default outputs. You will select your interface in Sounds and Audio Devices. Or whatever that is called in your OS.
