my band and i are trying to get together a good home recording studio but were not sure what people recommend as the best equipment or even what exactly we need. weve been looking into it for a long time now and we cant decide on what to get so wed like people's opinions. we know basically near nothing about recording so any information you can give me on equipment, techniques, etc. would be greatly appreciated. we are a band with 2 bassists, 2 vocalists. 1 guitarist. and 1 drummer. i dont know if that matters any but i thought i best tell you all. so anyway. if you have any suggestions or comments for me, id really like to hear from you, and thanks!

If you primary interest is making music, and not grammy award winning recordings I personally suggest that you get a 4-track tape recorder, and a mixer.

It would be hard to make better than "garage" recordings this way, but it's a cheap way to get started.

If, on the other hand, you guys want to make your own high quality CD's you better go talk to your banker about a loan. Honestly though, if your objective is "good recordings" book some time in a studio.

cost really isnt a problem .....weve got all costs covered .....we just need to know what the good things are to make an actually good cd recording ......and studio time around here is near impossible really ......btw ....we have 2 bassists for the sound ....it just adds effect .....really, there isnt any other way to explain it .....
