Hey guys, first time on this forum, was hoping I could get some tips from some pros! I'm not doing anything huge, but I would like to get the best sound I possibly can. Here's what I got:
Digi 002 Rack
4 XLR input mixer
Samson C02 2-pack condensor microphones
Stageworks SDRK-E4 Drum Mic Kit (bass drum clip broke)
Shure PG-52
2 other mics the singers in my band bought; same mic, about $100.
2 Boom stands
1 Straight stand
2 Short boom stands (bass drum and whatever else)
Here's how I currently have my setup, was hoping I could get some input on what i should change.
The C02s are over the drums, one on each side since the cymbals are all on either side. Since I only have 2 boom stands, I have to use these mics to pick up all toms, rototoms, and snare :-/
The Shure PG-52 is behind the bass drum; I get the best sound from the back so far. it is to the right, half way between the beater pad and the edge.
The broken bass drum mic I'm using to record bass, I have it hanging ghetto fabulous from the XLR cord in front of the speaker of the bass.
One of the Stageworks Mics are in front of the guitar amp on the other short boom stand to pick him up.
I haven't found a way to safely position the straight stand inside the drum kit for toms at all. (I am buying another boom stand soon to do this better)
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should change? instruments are all recorded at once, then vocals on top of that afterwords.
