I just bought a mac mini for my son. I have never used a mac in my life. How the heck do you load and play a dvd game in a mac? Does not seem to have autoplay as in windows but I know Im doing something wrong.Hope someone can help!

From your applications folder on the internal hard drive drag the application called DVD player into your tool bar.

Double click....

The Mac games I have all have to install an application and run the media off the DVD. Open the DVD icon and look for an installer. The DVD player will do nothing for a game.

games on Mac = "good luck"

One of the best ongoing arguments for using a PC is for playing games.

Yep this is much better advice. I didn't read the first post closely enough. My bad.

This has been my experience as well. The only games I've ever had interest in playing were available for the Mac... I can't help but feel like the old
"PCs have all the games" mantra is fading, at least a little bit. I'm sure there are still more readily available for PC, but its not like you can't find anything for them at this point :D

it's starting to very slowly... but will eventually start to change a bit... plus, if you have an intel mac, just run PC games in bootcamp. I do that ALL THE TIME with my macbook pro, and they usually run just great. There's only been one game that I've tried that hasn't worked at all (granted I was trying it with the first version of bootcamp..I should see if it works now that the driverrs have been updated several times) I've been playing all the latest PC only games on my windows partition with great results.

anyway... for mac, if you put in a cd or dvd it will mount on the desktop. You just double click on the icon that comes up and there will either be an installer, or it will say somewhere in the window to drag it to your applications folder... The applications folder is at the root level..so if you open your hard drive from the desk top, there will be an applications folder (hint: if you drag the folder to the dock right next to the trash it'll be really quick and easy to access by clicking on it there (also right/control clicking will give you a list of applications. You can also make the game easier to find by going to where it is in the applications folder and dragging it to the dock... then you just click it in the dock for it to open.
