Im strictly recording guitar-based rock music, so im looking for the right software for multi tracking. one thats not "bloated" w/ Bull that ill never use.

Ive used older versions of Vegas audio (Liked it, Very Friendly( but had issues w/ mixing down)
Also,(years ago) i dabbled w/ cakewalk HS (Seemed to Bog-dwn my Processor to the point of freezing,(but, mixed dwn great!)

So, My....(here it goes) Question is.

which version of Vegas should i look for (that focuses on audio multi-trackn) that mixes dwn well. ( unless y'all can recomend a seperate mix dwn for cd burning program)
OR...
Which CW multi tracker Has proven to be most effiecent for CPU?
Hard drive/ram/processer usage is an issue for me...
Any suggestions would be great,

866 pIII
512 SDRAM
40 GIG (28 free though)
and am in process of installing a Delta 44

thanks again

Either of these should work fine. But Vegas doesn't do MIDI sequencing, which is a big drawback to me.

I use Vegas 3 and CW 6.01. But I use them on separate PCs because CW 6 won't run under Win XP. I just use the CW for MIDI and run the HW synth outs into my Delta.
