got the new sonic foundry catalog yesterday. The products that are featured are vegas video and for music creation acid. All of the products are listed with the exception of vegas audio. I notice it is being discounted heavily at stores for around $199 ( a great deal). Hopefully this just means that a new or iupdated audio platform is on the way from sonic foundry. Vegas audio is so solid I would like to see it expand. Unfortunatley it's probobly over.

Check out Vegas Video 3.0, and you will find that it contains a full blown version of Vegas Audio integrated into it. It's even more stable with more/better options than before...

I really like this program because it's robust, yet leaner on system resources than many other programs.

Vegas Audio has basically been discontinued as a separate program. As LooneyTunez said, it contains all the audio capabilities of Vegas Audio, but they're really after the video market and I guess it didn't make enough sense to them to have two programs that overlapped so much (Vegas Audio with much of the Vegas Video capability and Vegas Video with all of the Vegas Audio capability).

Vegas Video is a great product...

I second the opinion of AlChuck. Vegas Video is a great product.

You guys are right, vegas video is a great product, but is also about 2x as expensive. You can still find Vegas audio 2.0 around at about 199. Video is around 399.

T-Rave,

I had struggled with this situation for months and in the end, the update was not very favorable to a guy like me who specializes in audio only. This is one of those rare times when a company (SF) is really trying to force a pile of functions on me that I don't need.

For the price, you get about 5 new "audio-centric" features and to me that wasn't worth the fairly substancial cost (especially here in Canada - after exchange I would be looking at something like 600-650.00). If you have 2.0 and just do audio, stay with it.

Cheers,

Cuzin B

If you stumble into a Best Buy you can find Vegas Audio 2.0 for 65-99$ depending on where you go. At least that is how it is in the Indianapolis Area. Just thought i would put in 2 cents worth...

I just upgraded to Vegas Video 3.0 for $149.00. One of the things I like most is the integration of CD Architect, a product SF discontinued not too long ago.

It would be nice if Vegas Vid had a program setup option that enabled users to hide unecessary video functions. I wonder, does this spell the end of SF's commitment to improving the audio production side of Vegas?
