I use an EMU 1212m, and Vegas 5
and every time I open the program I have to reset the asio driver or I get no sound...
it's not a big problem, just annoying, anyone know a way around this?

Sounds like it's something with the Emu. I've been using Vegas for years (up to and including v5), with various sound cards, and I've never experienced that problem. You tried the Sony forums?

I use an E-MU 0404 on my Vegas box and only have periodic problems with the sound disappearing. Usually a reboot will fix it. It seems to be a problem with the E-MU ASIO driver -- Creative has always had flaky drivers -- but you might want to make sure you have the latest updates.

If it's happening EVERY time you load Vegas, then I would tend to think that something's going on in Vegas, but who knows....

Lotta help, aren't I?

I have been using Vegas 5 for months without any problems whatsoever, so it may be the Emu. I've heard of all sorts of complaints about them being udependable (that depends on who you talk to). Make sure the drivers are updated and see if you can troubleshoot it. If you have DMA enabled on your settings tab and everything else is set up correctly, you shouldn't be having this problem...
Sorry I can't be much help. Try elevate's suggestion and go to their forum...

I agree with robgb and Rokket....

Try updating the drivers of your soundcard.
