I couldn't find the original thread for this, but I've had Variaxman's music tracks for a few months. I had nothing else to record, so I gave the vocals a shot. Man, I always knew Freddie Mercury was a great singer. But, trying to sing this made me really appreciate how good he was.
Anyway, I gave it my best shot. A few parts are pretty weak. And there are a few timing issues I had to deal with, especially going in and coming out of choruses. But I had to do this as a challenge.

Variaxman, thanx alot for giving me a great music track to work with. :)

It's here: http://www.ramirami.com/freemusic.cfm
At the very bottom of the page. "Spread Your Wings".
(You can STOP the song that starts right away in the bottom left hand corner of the screen)

Man This Boy is on a roll... :D :D :D

Great singing Rami, I love the energy in your version of this.

Great backing by Axeman.

I like how you manage to get those cool chatters between the vocal lines that Freddie was a champ at.
My Biggest Musical Idol Is Freddie Mercury, And you did great.

Pure class Rami...

Thanks for doing this both of you, I love colabs :)

Wow - great collab guys.... Great backing track Variaxman. And Rami you really nailed it on vocals....

That is incredible!!! Very nice song. Are you singing over an mp3, or did you mix the vocals within the seperate parts of the song? The singing is incredible. The music sounds very nice in it's own right, but as a whole, this song is good. I have downloaded it, and will listen to it several more times. This is why I play music. It's just so enjoyable. :)

Damn Rami....all I can say is, You Da Man.... :D

We need to kill you now. You're making the rest of us look bad.... :p

Fucking nice job man...and Axeman....cool stuff.

Hi P.W. I sang over the music tracks that VARIAXMAN posted (as an MP3) here a few months ago. I have to say that, while parts of it are alright, I really had trouble with the higher lines, and I think they sound a little strained. But it was a great vocal practice and hopefully if I try to sing it in a year, I'll have improved enough to do it better. Thanx alot.

NAK, DOG, and IDO....Thanx alot, guys. It's fun to do a collab and/or a cover in between originals. This is the hardest song I've ever had to sing. That guy had some pipes......(and I hear he liked pipes, too....or cigars...whatevah :p )

RAMI, that is a very good sounding song, you having done that over just an mp3. I've never tried that. You seemed to have put the vocals in the song very well. I'm sure the performance has much to do with that, but it sounded like the mix was done very well. I really liked it. :)

Thanx...and judging by your amount of posts, I should say "welcome" to the site. Are you a musician??? We need more females posting music here. :)

RAMI,
Very nice. I stopped listening to Queen after ADATRaces as they'd become too pop for my sensibilities back in '78.
This version of a song a hadn't heard suggests that I should do a little more exploring.
Well sung. I can hear the work that goes into some of the top notes - but that lends to the performance - it sounds real as well as real good.
Variaxeman is gettin flamin' good at these covers.
Collaboration needs no nation!

I play a bit. I started pretty young, and of course lost interest for a while. I do play a bit of everything now. Guitar is my main instrument, but I did learn drums earlier, and practice them a bit when I can. The home recording thing is pretty new to me, but I have been playing for about 20 years.
I have a few songs that I have recorded, with no words. And nothing of the quality that I have heard here. So far, the music I have heard, has been very good. There seems to be a great deal of talented people here. I sure hope to learn alot.

Thank you. :)
Marianne

Nice job guys. Haven't heard this one before. Good vox and the backing tracks are great

Rami!!!
Great job on this one....I know it's a bitch to sing. You pull it off great!! Your voice has a great tone/timbre that fits well on this, and thats some petty big shoes to fill.
Thanks Rami, I truly appreciate it!

Really really nice collab. Loads of personality in the performance from both sides. Nice to hear a collab between you two guys. I feel like I'm walking by the open door of a club, hear the song and I start yelling, "Hey! Hey!! I know them!".

[analytical mode on] I think it'd sound even better with less compression.

Thanx alot, Tim. I think I had to compress my voice more than normal because I really had to belt out some of those lines, and I probably didn't use distance as well as I should....good ear.........ya bastard. :D
