Ok, I figured I'd post back in case anybody does a search for this guitar on this BBS. Got the guitar yesterday. So here's my half-assed review based on about 6 hours of use.
I was actually set up fine, but I'm going to have a little bit of bridgework done....probably, but it's not critical. The guitar is definitely playable (no buzzing, no huge relief in the neck), but it definitely doesn't play like a nice acoustic. It has the feel of something more like a baby Taylor or one of those Martin back-packer guitars.
CONS:
1. Feel - it's just not something that MAKES you want to play it;
2. Tuner/Output signal - The tuner is useless on mine...The output signal is really really weak for some reason, and that may have something to do with it, because I can't really get it to tune through external tuners either. I had to really crank up the gain on the board.
3. Presets - It's got 10 banks, which is plenty for me, and actually, the presets that were programmed in were pretty tasteful, but you can only go through them one way. Like if you go from 1 to 2, you have to hit the button 9 times to get back to 1 again, which is not good for live stuff.
4. Look - I knew the guitar was ugly when I bought it...because of the tiny body, it looks funny on a fat guy like me, lol.
PROS:
1. Sound - I initially plugged it into my acoustic amp, and it was "ok," but it wasn't knocking my socks off or anything. Then I set a PA up and plugged it in direct. OH MY FUCKING GOD. Suffice it to say that any shortcomings the guitar has are FAR OUTWEIGHED by the way it sounds. Hands down, the best live
acoustic guitar tone I've ever heard. It took me some hours to dial it in, but when I plugged in other acoustics that I KNOW sound good through that PA, they all sounded like ass in comparison.
This is hard to review, because if you take in all the elements, the guitar would probably only get like a 6 out of 10, but to me, the sound of the guitar is 100x more important than anything else as long as it's playable, so I would have to HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this thing for live sound.
I'm stoked.
