A couple of mates are pushing an 82 Gibson (red) explorer to me for 700-800 euros...

It's old, not yet vintage, I think it should be in good shape, and 800-1000 is what they're asking for them around here, some 1200 for new ones.
Naturally, I'm gonna play it first, If it wont hold up to my <600 Deans I think I'll pass.... (I've got a Z79 which is decent and a white/gold-V that's awesome!)

A Gibson is a Gibson, but then again, just another set-neck mahogany axe... What do ya think??

Well damn. I was going to try to interject some humor by posting a picture of a 1982 Ford Explorer, but I don't think they made 'em then! :o :p

Isn't 25 years technically "vintage?"

Light or Muttley or someone else here will know better than me.

Pete

If it has a Def Leppard sticker its worth the price!

In all seriousness, I dont have a value... check ebay, but I have seen lots of explorers being fire saled on craigslist and in local shops.

I would rather put my money in a Hamer explorer(style) if ya ask me!

I had a '76 explorer that sold a couple years ago for $900.

i love explorers generally, with that said i hate some of the explorers from the 80's (the ones with out the pick gaurd and the switch down with the knobs) and as far as your Deans go, i have 3 Deans and i love em all
