V67 Shockmount Causes Noise

And here I thought the purpose of a shockmount was to PROTECT the mic from noise caused by vibration....I don't quite know how it's doing it, but my V67 shockmount is causing intermittent rumbles/flutters to the tracks I use it on, even when nothing in the room is moving and there's no "sound" being recorded. At first I thought it was the cable, so I swapped it out for another. Then I thought it was the mic, until I took it out of the shockmount to look at it to discover that the felt inside the shockmount had come loose and was all bunched up. Wondering if this could be the problem, I hooked the mic back up (sans shockmount), sat it on a chair, and voila - the mic was dead silent.

Anybody else run into this problem? Should I be looking to replace the felt with some kind of foam? Something else? Enlighten me, oh learned ones.

Not really... I had to glue the felt down better on the shouck mount... but that's all.

Just a wild guess, but maybe the elastic isn't evenly tensioned and is slipping through the support arms ??

It's the weirdest thing - the mic makes noise at random intervals when it's just sitting there in the shockmount, and is silent when it's not. I definitely need to reglue the felt in before trying anything else.

Humm, if that's the case... it sounds like you have a lemon with an intermittent problem. Send it back for a new one.
