Kind of like compairing apples to.. well... aah... err... apples...

Behringer did a particularly good job ripping off this piece... I've got the pod pro, but if I were to do it again, I'd pick up the V-amp. I just couldn't justify paying that much more for the Line 6 when the two units are almost indistinguishable

yea cool. Cuz im thinking of geting one so i can use it while tracking drums.. cuz amplitube wasnt giving me the "IN YOUR FACE" sound really. I need something more "tube' sound wise....

So...if given a choice between similarly priced units (POD 2.0 vs. Vamp Pro), you would say that the Vamp is the obvious choice?

i'D SAY THEY BOTH SUCK BUT THAT'S JUST ME, (WHAT DO i KNOW, I LEFT THE CAPS LOCK ON)

There are demos of V Amp on You Tube. There might be some of the POD too, I don't know. Check out the You Tube demos. Just type in V Amp and bingo.

Personally, I avoid Behringer stuff; I have a Line 6 Floor Pod Plus that (so far) works really well. Love the tones, and the wah is very useful.

I recorded a guy who had a Line 6 Floor PodXT Live (I think that's the nomenclature) and it killed. Extremely quiet, great tones. He wasn't into wah, but I've just been fighting a 15-year-old Cry Baby and the lack of scratchiness is great. You can shape the response, which you can't do with the Dunlop.

I've got the Pro with the seperate floor board... I hated the wah pedal control on the board... sold my other dedicated wah pedal and really regretted it... just wasn't very expressive, like there wasn't enough throw on it... But this was an earlier model floorboard... maybe there's been improvements there

Yes, if we were just talking a few dollars between the two, I'd go with the Line 6, but last I looked there was 100's between these two... making the choice obvious. Sonically they are very close

i just put my v-amp2 on ebay. sure there were a lot of fun/interesting sounds in it, but they weren't really believable or "real" sounding. it was interesting for having someone play through to give a DI'd scratch track some flavor......but those tracks were always retracked with a real amp (or reamped thanks to always taking a "clean" DI in addition).

i dunno. i felt it was a neat toy and not much more. YMMV, i suppose.

cheers,

Yup, like that digitech thing my kid got for Christmas 5 years ago, great fun, not useable.....but hey, that's me

I find the v-amp2 very workable and good sounding.
Doing all my recording jobs with it.
The standard sounds are nice, but when you dive into it, you can make a lot of great sounds yourself. If you don't do that, it's just a toy, same as the POD.

Both of the guitarists in our band use V-Amps. Not bad sounding at all especially for the more extreme settings. The major problem with them is reliability. Both of them have had to replace the power supplies at one point.
We got them for $75 each off ebay so certainly can't complain.

I used a v-amp2 a handful of times and one of the pins in the power connector broke off under careful use.

On the other hand, the week I bought a POD XTlive I tripped over the power chord and ripped the power jack right off the PCB. A quick call to line 6 and they mailed me a jack for free, no problem replacing it myself.

I liked them both. I got a killer deal on the XTL($200), so it was cheaper then a Vamp plus a midi floorboard.

And I know that probably didn't help you at all, so i'm gonna say you probably really can't go wrong.

Got a 20% coupon from MF for...presumably for having had to wait ridiculous amounts of time during their recent distribution relocation.

Got a Vamp Pro for $135.
