Hi, new to these forums, have had a look around but couldn't find anything about this

I have an Akai DPS12, which can record 8 tracks simultaneously - 6 tracks of analogue sound plus 2 tracks of digital through SP-DIF

Anybody got any suggestions as to how I could utilise the SP-DIF to get the 2 extra tracks as 6 tracks is never quite enough

I've had a look round for boxes that convert from Analogue audio to SP-DIF and there seems to be options available, but I'm interested if anybody has got one working with the Akai DPS range

Reason I need the extra tracks is for recording a band, as I'd like to utilise 6 tracks for drums but also record the rest of the band on a stereo track to use as a guide for over-dubbing each of the guitars / bass / vocals later - don't want to be restricted to recording drums onto 4 tracks only

Many thanks in advance for any help, Cheers

If you have some sort of FX Pedal that has SPDIF out you could do it. Something like a POD X3 Live has SPDIF out so you could use one for vocals and one for guitar. I'm sure there are also mixers with SPDIF outs.
