What does (if at all) anyone use to convert VST plugins to DXi ones? Is it possible? Thanks

I bet most of us use Cakewalk VST adapter comes with our cakewalk package now. Sorry, but I don't think Cakewalk Pro 8 supports VST and DXi.

Canopus, you're a little confused with the terms (as are you, James 
). VST and DX are effects. VSTi and DXi are instruments.
As long as you're using effects, you should have no problem using VST with an adapter in PA8.
