Mixing and Mastering.
I just bought a firepod from the USA and it has a USA plug.
Im looking into getting a transformer so I can use it in the UK.

I found this transformer but Im not sure if it will work or not.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=24488&&source=14&doy=Search

The firepods details are: 120V ac 60Hz 0.4a (in)
15V ac 2000ma (out)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge in this subject,
Id really appreciate any input into this.

Thanks,
Eck

Hi,
If you could purchase a unit with the EXACT OPPOSITE specifications from the unit shown, you'll be fine....(looks farking ugly but, and a little 'over-powered'!)....oh..and expensive!! (Thought you were going to save money??)

I'm sure you will find one...(just ensure the frequency (Hz) is compatible; that could be more important than the actual voltage, with your Firepod!!)
Let us know how you go.
Regards,
Superspit.

The firepod doesnt state the Hz it uses.
The 60Hz inthat I said will be the Hz of the USA mains sockets.

By in I think it means what is going into the transformer (ie whats coming from the USA mains socket)
Could be wrong though as I don't know much about this kind of thing.

Cheers,
Eck

The transformer your looking for needs to convert 230v to 120v for your firepod. So it would be some kind of step down transformer. And yes "Input Voltage" is the voltage you are supplying to the transformer. So in Europe your Input would be 230v (or close to that) and you would want the transformer to ouput 120v for your firepod.

The Presonus manual states, "Power Adapter Input - This is where you plug the provided power supply into the Firepod. Please check the provided power supply to ensure that it is the correct voltage and plug type for your country."

This means that you need to either buy the Firepod for your location, or possibly buy a correct power adapter from Presonus directly.

Usually a transformer that's designed for 60 hZ will NOT be happy getting 50 hZ - it will likely tend to run hotter due to the different frequency.

Presonus also states in their manual that they have distributors in nearly every country, and do NOT condone exports from the US - if you plug into wrong power, it is therefore NOT a warranty repair and will COST you. Therefore I'd recommend getting the right unit for your area, it's much less hassle in the long run... Steve
