Hello.

If I wanted to split a mix up over different outputs (i.e have just the bass come out a single 1/4 inch out and have a stereo mix come out of a different pair of outs) would I have to buy two different soundcards and route them that way? Or could I buy a device like the m-audio quattro and run the bass out of out #1 and the stereo mix out of say #'s 3 and 4?

I use Cubase SX, I am am pretty sure you can't split them up like that.

Any help is very much appreciated.

You can route them to more than one pair of outputs if you have more than one pair of outs. Something like a Delta 44 has four outs, so you could do it with that. Does the Quattro have four outs two? That would also work.

What won't work well is two separate stereo soundcards, unless you have a way to lock them to the same clock reference.

You should be able to route like this in Cubase SX with no problem. It's standard dtuff, and Cubase SX is a full-featured system.
