I think I'm missing something obvious here but.....

Is it possible to use the Sonitus limiter while recording, or do I have use an outboard unit?

What you're missing is that this would be after the A/D conversion in the signal chain. What good is limiting a signal that has already clipped?

Unless, of course, you want to raise the overall signal level. But you realize of course you can do that AFTER you record. No need to do it WHILE you record.

ok then how do you prevent digital overs without using outboard gear? if you are monitoring the output post software rather than directly out of the recording unit, then the sonitus would prevent you 'hearing' any overs.

of course sonar already has a setting in the audio tab that prevents clipping from going out of the outputs.
