I've read in a couple of places that reverb can be used to create a sense of movement on a particular track, but they were very vague about the specifics. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about movement, but a good stereo reverb can make the sound more lifely, because the left verb signal is different from the right verb signal. This can make a mono source signal more animated.

Maybe those 'shimmer reverbs' can give a sense of movement

If your sequencer supports effects automation, you can dial in more or less reverb over time to make your sound appear to be moving forward or backward in the stage. Combined with panning back and forth, this can give a "3-D movement" effect.

Overdone and it sounds like crap tho....

Sometimes tails modulate, and you can have slightly different timing or repeats happening on either side...
