PLEASE help!

I purchased a Zero SL mk2 for its functionality with Ableton, but so far I've spent 5 hours attempting to set it up correctly to no avail.

I do NOT wish to use Automap. I simply want to assign knobs and sliders to whatever I choose within Ableton.

Here's my midi preferences set up :

Ok. But NONE of the knobs' led's light up!! Explain please!?

They light up fine when I go to automap. They light up fine when I change my settings in preferences, but this is so far the only set-up I've found where I can get the actual knobs/sliders to midi map in ableton. I only see applicable options for the control surface in the drop down menu in ableton for 'RemoteSL' or 'RemoteSL Classic'.

I'm extremely frustrated and very close to selling this thing and going back to an APC40.

I think the driver software for the Zero SL Mk2 is built into the Automap app making it impossible for your computer to even see it without using Automap.

You don't NEED to use any of the Automap functionality except for the knobs and sliders you choose within Ableton. Automap works - at least in my experience - by creating a copy of the target plugin with 'Automap' appended to the name of the plugin. If you don't create any Automapped plugins you won't be tempted to use that functionality of the Zero SL mk2.
