Using my Mackie's pre's going to the Delta 1010lt's pre's... Can I use a DI?

Hi there. I just ordered a 1010lt and I cant help but notice that 2 of the 8 in channels are XLR. I don't want to just go direct to the pres of the Delta, so can I just use a di box in between the direct out of the Mackie and the Delta? I'm lazy and didn't do a search on this...

Please help me and give me a possible solution.
