Using my DAW for live performances?

Simple question I hope. I already RTM's and still can't figure out how to do this. I know it's possible because I have seen craigslist ads of bands that use Pro Tools in a live setting. I don't use Pro Tools I use Reaper and my interface is a Lexicon Omega version 2. PA head is a Behringer PMP1680S (no inserts). I have several reason why I want to do this. I have a Korg K25 MIDI controller that I use at home with plugins for various stuff like percussion, synth, church organ etc etc. I also like some of the reverbs and such that I have opposed to the ones built into the Behringer. So basically I guess it's cos I want to use VSt's and VSTi's through my PA system..and record our live performances when we are fully mic'd.

Any suggestions?

Without inserts you will need to split all your signals and send send one side of the split to your interface and one side to your mixer.

Hmmmm. I read your post again and realized that you want to use your DAW to process your signals live. I think you would engage the inserts in your DAW for each signal to the desired processors, then take the output of your Omega to your PA. Splitting signals as I previously suggested not required. Never tried it tho' so I am guessing a bit.

I did live sound and recording at the same time with Reaper for the first time last night. I used Reaper, a Presonus Firestudio and a Presonus Digimax FS. I had a total of 15 channels going. The band was Guitars x 2, bass, drums, harmonica and 3 vocalists (one guitar player, bass player and drummer). There was no sound check, so I was more worried about the live sound than the recording. Once I got things "dialed in" all went well and the band and audience enjoyed it. This was strictly and experiment situation for me and it met all my expectations. I want to do it again, but at the same time send 3 monitor feeds to the guys, making them use earbuds. Last night I pretty much just fed the mains feed to their monitors. The Voodoo stuff here is of the same band recorded in november using the same rig: Richard King's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
