i am having problems i have a behringer mx602a and i have cool edit pro installed into my PC and i want to record from that how do i hook up my mixer to my pc? do i hook it into the sound card and if so waht cables do i need also will i have to buy a new soundcard i have the one that came with the computer.

I've been using a Mx602a with cooledit pro as well.

What I did was plugging the line out of the soundcard (sblive in my case) to the tape in of the mixer and the line in of the soundcard in the tape out.
It worked fine for me.

Nowadays I have a separate preamp that's going direct into the soundcard and I'm using the Mx602a just for monitoring.

You will get better results with a good recording sound card like the M-Audio Delta's. They have more in/out for simultaneous recording of multiple channels, lower noise and 24bit recording quality.

And he would probably get an even better result if he had a million dollars to spend on cool gear...
Of course he would be better of with an M-audio soundcard but that just isn't the point of this thread.
Some people have to work with what they can afford and have to make the best of it.

Hi. Napoe82

What type of sound card do you have? Does it have SPDIF I/O? Or is it simply the standard consumer mini jacks? Let me know this and I'll help you anyway I can with the type of cables you need. You shouldn't need a new soundcard to begin with. Eventually, yes. But just to start off, no need to spend the money right off the bat if it can be better spent somewhere else.

Also, since your mixer has 1/4 I/O as well as RCA jacks for tape I/O, you might be able to do it that way. The choice is yours. Just give us some info on your sound card jacks and we'll get ya rollin'!

thanxs

thank you everyone for helping me out my soud cacrd is just the standard consumer sound cards with no i/o jacks if anyone knows how to hook up mixer using 1/4 mini jacks pls respond back thanks

Well, since you have a consumer card, then your card should have the mini jacks on the back, line in that is.

That gives you the option of hooking up the mixer either 1/4 to mini to the computer or RCA to mini. There are simple adapters that have stereo RCA jacks to stereo mini.

Personally, I think that would be your best bet. Use the tape out RCA jacks on the mixer, get an adapter, and hook it up to the line in mini jack on your sound card. As much as I dislike Radio Shack, since you have a consumer sound card, you can just use an adapter from them.

Good luck! Hope this has helped some!

so confused???????

okay heres what i do (im asking for help by the way. I know nothing about this stuff.) I run my mixer into the mic spot of the sound card with a regular guitar cable with an adapter (to make it smaller). But when i try to record the bass after the guitar i cant hear the guitar during the play back to stay on time. What do i need to do? And im sorry if you have already answered this but all this talk is like a binary code to me.

once again im sorry if you already answered this.
