i have 2 computers - one that i use for multitracking and another i use for internet, word processing, etc. - and i have an m-audio firewire 410 as an interface on my multitracking computer. i just ordered a set of yorkville active ysm-1p monitors and i'm wondering how to use them with both computers - as in how to be able to hear audio from my internet computer as well as the mulitracking computer. the fw410 has 2 firewire ports on the back - can i just hook it up to both computers? i've already used it separately with both, but i'd like to have it permanently connected without having to unhook it and replug every time i want to hear some audio from the internet or something. it seems like it might not be a good idea to have it connected to both computers, because i usually have them both turned on and just switch back and forth with a kvm switch to one screen, so i dont know what would happen if both were sending it an audio signal. would the solution be to run rcas from the internet computer into one of the fw410's line inputs and route it to the speaker outs through the control panel? any help would be awesome - sorry the questions is so long.
