In DXSetup, it's possible to play a MIDI file using the DirectX software synthesizer, and when you install the DirectX SDK, a MIDI file player that uses the soft synth comes with it. But is there a way to use this soft synth in any other application? I can't find it in Control Panel or Device Manager to set it up as my MIDI output. I'd like to be able to use it in Cakewalk. Thanks.

i'm not sure what you are talking about, but what is a direct x soft synth?.....and i'm not talking about anything like simsynth that uses direct sound support.....are you talking about using the sounds on your sound card? if so, you don't have to use them....but i'm actually kind of clueless as to what you are saying....

:)
