Better Than You
I use to use a Soundblaster Live Platinum w/livedrive. I stepped up to the Delta 1010 a couple years ago. I was going through some early recordings I did with the Soundblaster and was taken by the fact that they sounded BETTER than anything I've done with the Delta. Much warmer. My question is:

Can I use both these cards together? There is no wordclock on the Soundblaster.

I use my Delta 44 with an audigy 2 that I use as a monitor. I do this by simply taking the monitor out from the Delta with a cable and plugging it back into the line-in of the Audigy 2. I can choose either card as a source in my cakewalk program. I can also use the audigy 2 wavetable for MIDI and record it with my Delta.

...but it is a bit of a workaround.

You won't be able to sync them together for recording

Will I be able to switch back and forth easily between cards for recording?

Like I said, I have a drop down that can choose the sound card - though actually I've never tried to use them at the same time for recording.

Hmm.... :o

Yes...I have the same set up. The limitation might be how easy it is to switch with your recording application. As a previous poster stated, you can't use both for recording at the same time, and the same goes for playback, they can't be synchronized but, I do use both and switch back and forth. I'm using SONAR 5. IRQ's might pose a problem if you don't keep them separate but other than that, it shouldn't be a problem.

Why do you use both? Wondering if it's the same reason I want to.

I have been able to use Both my Delta 44 and my Onboard Sound for recording at the Same Time but only when running "ASIO4ALL" drivers and in ASIO Mode...

The Problem was over long Tracks I would loose Sync on Playback and I had Noisy recordings through the Integrated sound so I never went back to try it again....

I"m sure your Delta 1010 has enough Inputs for you and if not you can Just install another Delta Card as all Delta Cards will Play nicely together....

cheers

It's not the limited inputs that is the problem. The results I get on the Delta do not sound as good as the Soundblaster.

I had a soundblaster live, and have a delta 1010 and I can tell if you the soundblaster recordings sound better, you are doing something wrong. It was a day and night difference.

On second thought, you are right, 1010s are crap. You should sell me yours and record with your soundblaster.
:)
