I need some advice on how to use an Equalizer with a Tascam DP-01/FX. The things I have searched and what I've read, including the manual, doesn't say much about it.
I have a DBX 32 band stereo equalizer. I'm pretty new to using an EQ so I'll have to start from step 1. How the hell do I run it into the the Tascam, and do I use it while recording or mixing or both? I've always just mixed with the controls that are on the machine and never thought about using an EQ until I started reading around on here. I have had one given to me that I would like to try out.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi JLandis

I persoanlly would back up the wave files to your computor and use a good basic audio software like Reaper to mix eq , compress etc. .

You can aslo master it with a good software like T Racks standered.

I have just brought a T Racks standered and its brilliant.

As far as hooking up an external EQ, your choices are somewhat limited with the DP-01, as it does not offer much in the way of I/O hookup.

As I see it, you have two choices. Route the track you want to EQ to the single Aux Send that the device has, and return it to one of the stereo return jacks you have. This will only allow you to use one channel of the EQ at a time, but that can't be helped in this case.

Or, second, run the stereo mix L & R outs to the EQ and either return the EQ signal to the stereo returns to be recorded as an EQ'd stereo mix, or send the output of the EQ to your PC or other alternate recording device like Bluesey suggested. Either way this would give you the ability to EQ the overall stereo mix.
