Suppose you have a recording where the drums sound really good and the performance is one of a kind, but you think the kick could use a bit of help or enhancement. Is there a way to make the kick track trigger a kick sample? I know it would be possible to manually import a sample and align it with every kick hit, but isnt there a way to do it automatically?

You could send the kick track out to a trigger input on a drum module and record in a new kick sound. I'm not sure how well the results will end up, but it'll kinda work.

Depends on your software. I remember Cakewalk used to be able to take the groove from a recorded track and convert it to midi.

Try a prog called Drumagog. Use it as an insert effect on the track. It takes its trigger from the track and plays the sample.
