Using a mixer with Quad Capture interface

My home set-up is simple--a Roland Quad Capture for audio interface, using Presonus Studio 1 for my DAW. I've recently added quite a few synths and other non-acoustic instruments to my collection and I'd like to have everything set up so that I can play, hear through a single set of monitors and record these with a minimum of cable switching and without having a different pair of monitors for everything.

My questions--can I use a 12-channel mixer for my instruments and have the outs on that going to my Quad Capture, and have the monitor output on my Quad Capture come into the mixer---this way I can use my one nice set of powered monitors both for listening to DAW playback and when just playing my synths. I am aware of the Presonus studio live mixers but for now I'm just looking for a low-cost solution to swapping a lot of wires, I'm happy with the Quad Capture.

Hope that makes sense

Could you elaborate a little bit on that please. My big issue is the monitoring one--I'd like to be able to use the same pair of monitors for my mixer and for the Quad Capture to hear the DAW mixes. This actually should be a common issue--so let me know what you think please and how you avoid having three or four pairs of monitors

Yes. I do exactly this with a Mackie 802-VLZ3 and a Roland Quad Capture.

You want the ALT3-4 output from the mixer to the Quad Capture inputs; the Quad Capture outputs go into a mixer channel (5-6 on mine), then the control room outputs go to your monitors. I don't have anything connected to the main outs, but you get more control over what you hear from the monitors/headphones that way (at least, that's how it works with my mixer).
