Hi. I've been thinking of getting a firewire interface to eventually go with a laptop, and to give me more analog tracks to work with on my desktop. I already have a Delta 1010, which has worked fine. I've been thinking about getting the Echo Audiofire8(http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--ECHFIRE8) or 12. What do I need to know about how to make something like this work with my Delta? I know if I just got another 1010 it would show up in my "Delta Control Panel"... but I kind of want firewire.

I think that if you go firewire you should get one from m-audio, then you know you wont have any problems with compadability from your laptop to your desktop.

Does anyone else know anything about this? I honestly just havent found the M-Audio Firewire interfaces to be all that appealing. But I don't want to lose the ability to run the new card in conjunction with my Delta.

If anyone else thinks that any of the M-Audio's fit my needs though that would be appreciated :)

I don't really need pre-amps(unless they sound decent) or headphone stuff on it. Since I'm probably going to be using external pre's and running all the outputs through a mixer anyways...

If you want to still use the inputs you have, as well as the new ones you are going to buy in one recording program, they are going to all have to use the same driver. For M-Audio cards, you can use any of the Delta series cards together and get access to all the combined inputs. So you can get another 1010, a 1010LT and Firewire 1814 etc.

I don't think anyone has made it work using 2 different interfaces with different drivers....at least not that I have seen or heard of.
