Using 110 ohm AES/EBU cable for mic lines

I've seen this advocated in a few places with strong opinions on both sides.

One side says the low capacitance per foot makes it an attractive solution, the other side says the characteristic impedance of AES/EBU cable makes it a bad idea; preamps won't like it.

Any opinions from this forum? I have yet to see any definitve argument, just a lot of anecdotal responses.

Seems I've seen this discussed here before, just can't find the thread.
