I just picked up a delta 1010 and I can't wait to use it. I have one question though that's not covered in the manual. If I don't have the rack unit connected to the PCI card with the 25 pin cable, can I still turn and use the computer without damaging the pci card??? All the manual talks about it making and breaking connections with the power off. Nothing about turning the computer on without it connected.
Thanks...

If the unit is disconnected with the PC on, I dont think it will hurt the card in any way.

It won't hurt it at all. I've done it many times, especially when I want to bring the computer to a friend's house for lan gaming. :D

The manual says not to connect or disconnect the breakout box when the computer is actually on, so shut down first, then connect/disconnect and you should be okay.

This is the reply from M-Audio...

Thanks for all the info. I used the computer without the rack unit connected and it worked fine. I e-mailed M-Audio and this is their reply.

"As long as the Delta is installed in your computer, it is best to leave the
breakout cable connected to the machine. If it is not connected, you may
experience error messages from any audio related application. At the very
least it will be annoying. It is recommended that the cable remain connected."
