Hey, does anyone know of any microphones that have USB and XLR out besides the blue yeti pro? Reason being I want to be able to record right when I get the microphone and then later get an audio interface to boost it's quality instead of buying another microphone with the audio interface. I understand that the MacBook Pro 2011 model has sufficient soundcard to produce decent quality audio while i'm using the USB (correct me if i'm wrong).

Also i would like some suggestions on some audio interfaces. I'm mainly going to record my vocals and my guitar. Something basic but with good pre amps will be nice.

Thanks :)

Alright thanks for your guys' suggestions. I've decided to go with the audio interface apporach. With that said, it would be much appreciated if you guys could suggest me some Interfaces and Microphones.

My budget on the interface is $200, and my budget on the microphone is $200.

I will be recording Vocals and an acoustic/electric guitar. It's probably going to be me, myself, and I for the next couple of years.

I'm also going to be using the 2011 MacBook Pro.

For the mic, a good choice would be an AT4040. Sells new for 300 but you might be able to find one on ebay for 200. I use that for some vocal and guitar work. It's a very versatile mic and sounds great for its price range. As for the interface M-Audio works with mac and pc and although i am not crazy about m-audio, it would meet the needs of .

I think you can buy an m-audio mobile-pre 24bit 48khz usb interface bundled with pro-tools se for under 200. This way you have a daw to mix and experiment with instead of using something like audacity.

Both solid choices. I also like the MXL 67g and the Oktava MK-319 for under 200.

Never heard how either of them sound. I know mxl makes good products for a low price and the Oktava mk-319 sounds like an all around good mic from the samples and description on their website.

Ok, so I was checking out the PreSonus Audiobox USB. It seems like it would work for me. Does anyone have any input about it? Pros, Cons? and also what about the 1box. It is pretty much a beginners package. If i do get the 1box i probably wont use the Mic but it does come with some extras.

I would forget about a USB mic..

I would use a normal mic. and connect it to the computer via USB using the CEntrance MicPort Pro.

This will go up to 24/96, supply 48V phantom power for the mic. and includes a decent headphone amp.

You can get a decent setup for $400

If I was recording Acoustic and vocals I would spend $200 and pick up 2 used SM57 and a SM58 Then spend the rest on aninterface. But you should be able to get three mics for $150 which would give you $250 to spend on an interface, in which case I would get an Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 so I could separate all the mics and mix then separately in one take. It comes with Cubase LE4.

Here is info regarding entry level interfaces:

Yes plus both can be modded down the road to sound even better!
