usb to midi converter?

I wonder if anyone can help


I want to use an LPK25 to control a Korg EA-1.....the LPK is only a USB controller and the Korg only accepts midi..

I have larger midi controllers I just thought the built in arpeggiater on the LPK could be put to good use and its 25 keys are perfect for basslines (plus it saves it lying in a drawer not being used)...

there seems to be plenty cables/boxes converting the other way...is this possible to do??

You can't simply plug the LPK25 into the Korg EA-1 with an adapter (that I know of anyway). If I'm wrong about that someone please tell me!

This will work:
1. plug the LPK25 by USB into your computer
2. plug an adapter like a M-Audio Uno into a USB port on your computer
3. plug the MIDI plug from the M-Audio Uno into your Korg EA-1
4. using an app like Cubase that provides a MIDI Thru, play your LPK25 and it will play the Korg EA-1

If you have any USB keyboard or MIDI controller that also has a MIDI out it will probably give you that ability without buying a separate USB to MIDI adapter.

A USB to midi device for peripheral devices does not exist, you need to route it through your computer. USB needs a proper host to work, a device like a controller wont do.

yeah I thought its was going to be the answer....i dont woant to run it through the PC as I have other keyboard options...just though it would be a way to use the LPK as well..

I suppose I'll just go and invent it alongside the cool refreshing banana and make my fortune

I absolutely hate the fact that some controllers (and synths) dont have a physical midi out or in. Would it be that hard for them to put a mini DIN connector on it for people that dont always use a computer? I mean it is not like they dont use midi, it is just midi over USB which sucks as a concept as a whole.

i get why the LPK doesnt as its tiny...so Im not too disappointed its just Ill only ever use it on vacation or travelling...no real place for it in a studio due to key size and its lack of midi.....shame, I hate any kit not being used

dunno if anyone else is a complete midi n00b like me but i resloved the problem..

In Ableton i insert an external instrument in the sequencer (same as most I imagine) then send midi out to the EA-1 (and my JV1080) via my interface...then any controller active in Live can control the midi signal...


simple...like me

Great.

It does seem that there's no way (currently) of doing what you asked in the OP without a computer. There is no stand alone MIDI to USB adapter that I know of.
