I had an extra SoundBlaster MP3+ laying around that has a USB connection. So I thought I'd give it a whirl. Yikes! Maybe I had the clock setting all hosed-up (probably not), but it make everything out of synch...in a huge way.
When i tracked my guitar tracks, the drum track sounded fine. Then during playback, the guitar tracks progressively became more 'ahead' of the drum tracks. IOW, during the playback, the first few seconds sounded in synch. By the end of the 4 minute song, the drum and guitar tracks were about 2 seconds out of synch.
Needless to say, I went back to my original soundcard, and everything was back to normal.
I can only assume that this USB soundcard used a different clock for the IN and OUT.
