I did'nt want to believe it, but after using one I have to admit that they really do suck. USB bandwidth is just not sufficient enough to run audio applications. Anyone else with these experiences in here?

I don't have a USB soundcard but I'm very interested how yours sucked for you. Frankly I think that USB soundcards are designed with the bandwidth limitation in mind so.... Doesn't it deliver what it said on the box? Tell us.

I don't have a USB soundcard, but I do have a USB mixer... the tascam us428.
i was having some problems with pops, clicks, and stops until I downloaded service pack 1 of the WinXP operating system.
now everything is rock solid. i'm pushing out 16 tracks of audio with the necessary directx stuff turned off, and am able to record a stereo signal at the same time... on a laptop, with a single 5200rpm hard drive.
if i turn the DirectX dynamics processing back on, I can't record any additional tracks with the 16 tracks pumping, but I can playback all of the tracks with the Dx effects on when I'm mixing.

Basically, I got clicks and pops after I installed the sound card. I was using the M-Audio Quattro USB Audio Interface. I tried downloading the latest drivers for it, but that did nothing so I took it back and got the Delta 44 instead. Even if it did work, the limitation with this thing is that you can only record and playback all 4 of the tracks in 16 bit. If you wanted to record 24 bit you can only record upto 4 track with 2 playback only. The PCI based sound cards allow you to playback and record in 24 bit. I guess if you had a laptop going and you had SP1 installed you'd be OK but for what I need, USB did'nt do the trick.
