Hi Folks, I just got a USB MidiSport 2x2
midi interface, and it aint working. Drats!

It's a driver problem, obviously. I got it hooked
up to the USB port, power light works on the Midisport,
it works in midi thru mode.

Under device manager/usb ports, it says midisport
2x2, so the driver must be installed. But my software,
(Cake, Encore, Cool Edit Pro, etc)doesnt
recognize it when I go to Midi.. Setup.. etc.

Anybody know what I am doing wrong? I went to
the website, updated drivers, all the usual stuff.

Should I throw all my equipment away and take up
painting, or is there a rocket scientist out
there who can help me with what I thought would
be the easiest installation of all time?
Cheers, David

I have one of those.. it works great. But I did reinstall CEP over the top of it after I installed it. I do that alot when I change hardware... just cuz Im supersticious.

Hi, thanx for the advice. It still aint working.
I am at a loss for words here, it just doesnt
work, and I have no Idea why. I am fairly
good with computers, I installed two soundcards,
RAM, have a scanner, digital camera, all that
stuff, so I know my way around a computer.

When I go into Device Manager/usb port. it shows
it there, and says it is working properly.
When I go into Multimedia, it's not there.

The midsport is functioning in thru mode, so
I dont think it is defective. I was gonna
buy a fancy-pants interface, but I only have
two synths, and I thought with a usb connection
I would just plug this sucker in and be jamming.

I did all the usual stuff that y'all mentioned,
nothing is working. I will call them on
Tuesday, but I wanted to use my new toy
last night. I will keep you informed, David

Camn, yup, that is how it looks for the driver version.
It doesnt show up in multimedia or anywhere, except
for usb controllers, where it is listed. I tried
"add new instrument", I tried everything I can think
of, I downloaded drivers, etc. I tried to bang on
my computer, like the Fonz banged on the Jukebox
in Happy Days, but that did not help, #$%$#% Fonz.

As I said, I have been doing computer stuff for
years, and this one baffles me. Thanx so much for the
help, love this group, and any more help is great. Cheers,
David

youre fucked, I guess! I cant think of anything else!!
did you write Midiman? they have pretty good tech support?!

xoxo

Fucked? No Way Bob! After racking my brain, I realized
what was up: For some reason, my computer didnt or
couldnt pick up the drivers off the CDROM, so I manually
instructed it too, and I am now the poud owner of a working
Midisport USB iterface, which I named Camn-C7, but
for now I will call him Midisport Interface. Thanx
for the help, David

I am running into the same problem you did, DavidK.

I have the Midisport 2x2 and Cake 9.

So, I am glad you posted this problem (and the proper cure for it).

I am going to try the same solution, as you just did.

I hope it works.

Thanks in advance...

SPIN

Spin, let me know if that works. I installed the
midi interface, and it didnt work, so I went
to the website and downloaded driver updates
onto a floppy. The metal piece on the floppy
came off and got stuck In my A drive!! It
was a bitch getting out, and I think my
A drive is busted now (not that I ever use it).

At least it works now, and seems to work quite well,
so good luck with yours, too. David
