Ok so I've owned a xlr audio setup and a lot of your typical shure, audio technica, senheiser, electro-voice mics.

I sold my setup. I decided I'll get a more modest setup so I started looking at usb mics. Since ive used so many mics ive learned to have somewhat of a good ear at least dodging a few bullets when looking at usb mics. I was looking at mxl, audio technica, etc usb condensers. Suddenly I started to see a few random no name brands while searching ebay. Namely these three usb condensers sparked my interest:

galaxy audio ST-2B

recording-tools MCU-02

apex electronics Apex440

besides the fact they all look like autistic u87s i couldnt help but start to wonder how these no name companies where making these mics and why i could find almost no people sampling them on youtube besides the Apex440 and a few mcu-01s which reminded me of blue snowballs so I was insistent to get the bigger brother mcu-02 assuming it would probably sound like a blue yeti.

the Apex440 kept looking like the better deal. only 100 bucks. 24bit. uses usb 2.0 96khz. FET transformerless. gold sputtered. started to sound a lot like the higher end setup i used to use. i cant help but think that all 3 of these mics were made by the same manufacturers? they all use the same shockmount. i don't know enough but im assuming they outsourced these to a chinese company.

also from the 440 samples i herd they seemed to sound pretty good and natural. im probably going to get one. I wish i could hear samples of the other two. They seem better than all the other usb mics.

Yes.

If you have a few dollars to spare you too can order 100 USB mics from the far east with your own brand on it, and become a 'mic manufacturer'!

Far east mic suppliers

That is not a comment on the quality - they might be good or bad. I have never tried one.

What!! A small number of Chinese factories are producing products that are sold under multiple brand names?! Who would have believed such a thing could happen.

To be fair, this was news at one time, though that time was in about 1998.

I decided im not gonna buy one. i know shure and other companies do this too. their pg27usb i bought was defective as hell out of the box. it was hilarious. so even bigger named brand mic companies are i believe the same joke. im not sure what to buy should probably just get a yeti again.
