USB Mic for Speech

Hi,

i am looking for a USB mic primarily used for the moderation of an internet radio station. I wanted to buy the new AKG Perception 120 USB, but the dealer strongly recommended the Shure SM58 bundled with the USB adapter X2U.

Whats your opinion on this? I am currently working with the mic built-in the laptop, so any of the two mics above will definitely be a step forward

A separate interface will give you much more capability:

A dynamic mic like the 58 is a better pick, a condenser like the AKG will be very sensitive and pick up a lot of other noise in the room.

All USB mics universally suck, so it doesn't really matter which one you buy. If you're just recording speech and the quality isn't critical, either one will probably work fine for you as long as it provides a headphone output. If you ever want to be able to use more than one mic, though, or if quality is a consideration at all, skip the USB mics. They're basically only intended for podcasting.
