hi guys,

i'm having a couple of problems...

i have a remote sl 61 controller. when i connect it to my laptop directly via usb, and use it to control soft synths in nuendo, i find that i have to turn the buffer size right up from 96 to 512 to stop pops/noises... however when I connect to to my firewire audio interface (rme fireface 800) via midi cables, I can turn the buffer size down to 128 usually without any clicks/pops when using soft synths...

does anyone have an idea why this might be happening?

i also have a problem that sometimes when using soft synths i get a constant clicking noise at exact intervals of 2 seconds or so, that doesnt seem to be related to latency (changing latency doesnt affect it)... at these click points the virtual instrument meter in nuendo shoots up briefly... any suggestions on what this might be?

sigh, using pcs for music is so much hassle :(

thank god for this forum :)

I'm not sure about the latency issue, but as for the clicks...could it be that there is a metronome set up in your soft synth that you're unaware of?

sach16, i hear that rme has top notch drivers. the drivers would be my guess.

thanks for the replies guys...

i dont think it could be a metronome in soft synths as in happens in a few different ones and it's definitely not a metronome style noise, more of a clipping sound than a click...

travis - which drivers do you think the problem could be? the rme ones or the windows usb drivers? in which case there's not much i can do about it is there?

it seems strange though, i called novation up and told them about this and they said that the controller should run fine under windows usb...

any more ideas guys?

the remote should have nothing to do with the glitches in the audio. Its probably a symptom of the bigger problem.

What plugin is causing the problem?

What are your computer specs?

This of course is a legit copy of nuendo right?

hey,

a few plugins seem to cause the problem... reaktor being the most guilty...

my laptop is new and top spec (core 2 duo 2.5ghz, 2 gig ram etc.), so i don't think it's that... - when the click/pop thing happens the vst performance bar is quite low...

nuendo is legit, - came with the laptop, and a mad price tag!

im thinking of selling nuendo and going back to audition if i can't sort this out though... nuendo also seems to be quite unstable, get the blue screen every now and again, and when i boot up and forget to turn on my audio interface, the laptop crashes too...

unless anyone has any ideas on this problem?

sounds like a firewire chipset conflict. check with rme. Going to a different program wont fix it

Who bundles a $2000 video editing program with a laptop exactly? If it is legit as you claim, then Steinberg will be happy to support you.

do you have to use a dongle for nuendo if not it's a crack man... btw if it's legit you can upgrade to C4 for $199 which is sick... i was gonna ask too what else is usb could be a bandwidth issue... but drivers are always suspect... good luck... check the cubase and nuendo user forums fredos a PITA sometimes but never known anyone to not get help if it's legit...

The USB drivers for the controller are probably doing something stupid like holding interrupts off for a long period of time or using spinlocks or... something inefficient that's basically pigging out on your CPU.

well it didnt come bundled as such, - I ordered it with the laptop from a music pc specialist.

i'll check with rme and steinberg i guess and see what they say...

i guess it could just be a usb driver problem, which i'm guessing i can't do anything about... or can I?
