Hey all...

got another pretty simple question that I need to ask...

I am going to be using a midi interface and also a lexicon Omega interface, both connecting through USB. both interfaces claim to have zerp latency playback and monitoring..my question is, because of that would I still need a sound card...This answer is probably yes, but I do know the purpose of a sound card is to get rid of some latency issues along with the obvious better sound quality...

and feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks

The Omega becomes your soundcard.

If you play games, watch movies or surf the web on the computer with the Omega installed you will be hearing everything you were hearing through your stock soundcard through the Lexicon, only bigger and better.

Do not hesitate to disable your stock soundcard when installing the Lexicon - having both active at the same time will lead to nothing but trouble.

The same is NOT true for the midi interface. I have used separate midi interfaces for years with a variety of soundcards -- both USB and Firewire -- with no problems at all.

Ok cool..thanks for that...

so will i need to plug my midi through the lexicon then or will it be ok plugged usb ports?

Most current sequencer programs allow for more than one midi input. If yours is one of them you can use both. If not, you'll need to pick one or the other and then I recommend you use the Omega's onboard midi ports just for the sake of convenience.
