USB HUB or USB on Laptop NOT Working!

Last night I could not get my interface to sync up to my laptop. My usb ports on my laptop are screwed up because it got dropped a year ago(long story) but Ive always had 2 that have worked fine, so one was for the mouse and the other was for the USB hub, from the hub I would hook up the interface and a external hardrive.

Even when I moved the hub to a supposedly good port no dice, which makes me wonder if the hub just went south? Can those just quit working or go to shit? Anyway I didnt have time to mess with it so before i go out and buy a new hub, or tear apart my laptop, or even worse go buy a new laptop, anyone have any ideas?

Since the mouse still works fine on one port, but the hub doesnt work on that port Im guessing its the hub thats bad,? sorry Im being redundant .
 
Nevermind , re-loaded drivers and its all working. Im not sure why it did that but for now Im not gonna worry about it.
 
USB Hubs can be had for $5. Needless to say at that price they can be pretty poor quality. I don't know what model you have, but you might want to look for a good quality hub that gets power from an AC Adaptor.
