So I can have midi with a USB-midi interface since my computer has no joystick control?? Can I add effects to a song in Cubase via midi hookups to my rackmount multi-effects processor?

Yes to first question, but I don't understand your second question.

ScienceOne, yes you can user s USB->MIDI without a joystick in your computer (I use one in my laptop). As for the second question I think you are referring to the possibility of running ur MIDI leads straight into your multi-effects processor... the only way that this would be possible is if the processor had some sort of MIDI 'Sound Canvas' in it, other than that I think the only way this would work would be to run the output from your sound card or a 'Sound Canvas' into the effects unit and record it at the same time back on your computer.

I hope this helps,

Porter

All you can do with a MIDI connection to an effects processor is to send it program changes to change the effects patch, and in some cases some parameters of the patch might also be adjustable via MIDI control. Oh, one more thing, you can often dump all the patch parameters into a file on your PC (and send them back to reset the entire box in one fell swoop) via MIDI System Exclusive messages.
