I want to record my band using my Windows laptop. I have Cubase software. I'd like to find the right audio-digital interface, preferably a USB. I have a 16 channel Allen-Heath mixer with direct 1/4" outs for each channel, so I don't need pre-amps on my interface. Because we would like to record our music tracks essentially live, I need at least 7 inputs on the interface. All of the USB interfaces I see seem to have XLR inputs with mic pre-amps. Does anyone here know of a patch-bay type interface with at least 7 1/4" inputs and no pre-amps? Thanks.

Thanks. That looks like it would work. I was hoping to spend less than that, but there doesn't look like there's anything cheaper around.

You might also consider Firepod, I have one and its great. It has 8 pre-amped mic/line inputs..and two instrument inputs...$600

I would think that for more than 2 channels, you'd want a PCI interface. I can't imagine USB handling 10+ channels without some hiccups.
