Howdy,

I've been searching around EVERYWHERE for a good USB 2.0 sound card. I need midi. I need nice, quiet, and FAST (hence usb2.0) audio ins and outs.

Is there nothing out there? I've been reading about the Tas US122 and UA-20 USB ........ they're both USB 1.0/1.1 ... what the heck good does that do anyone?

Please, someone, guide me in the right direction. And, hopefully, a direction under $200.... :D

forgot to mention

I've also been looking at the M-audio Audiophile USB ... again, I believe this unit is usb 1.0

Of the three I've listed, which is most recommended? Also, again, are there any USB 2.0 units???

Thanks again.

Don't want to but maybe I'll have to ....

The Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX is USB 2.0

I can get a set of MIDI to USB cables.

What would I be missing?

Just forewarning...USB Creative cards have gotten a lot of bad reviews for the purposes of music/multi-track recording...search the threads. I tried the Extingy quite sometime ago hoping to pack my laptop around while travelling. I had completely un-workable results. I later went to an M-Audio Quattro with much improved results. It also gave me MIDI as well. I'm still not a big fan of USB but for simple work while travelling, I can capture ideas while on the road with acceptable results.

best luck to you.

Given the cost of motherboards, you may look into the possiblity that your current processer and memory will transfer to a board that has built in USB 2.0.

I recently needed a firewire interface, purchased an external board (which cost $5 less than a brand new mobo). It was a pain in the ass, caused all kinds of problems, and I had to pull it. Now, I have to get my money back. What a pain...

I have a laptop ... that's why I have to go USB.

But, I guess there are no USB 2.0 audi/midi interfaces. A shame... :(

Hey sssientist,

I appreciate your help, and all the response.... I did read my replies, but I am on a budget (who isnt?). The Behringer BCA2000 looks pretty good for the $$$.

I'm going to guitar center / American music tomorrow to talk to the guys to see what they have.

I'll post any new info.

:o
