Andy,
Do a search in this forum for US-428. There are several threads on this unit, but it's so new that no-one has a lot of practical info on it yet. Also see the Tascam website- they list complete specs and they have some excellent pix.
I'd like to hear from someone that's actually used one to get their opinion. Anybody out there?
There's also another one on the market for about twice the price, but much more powerful too. I think that one is made by EVENT.

Twist

I've got one, it's NEAT!

yup.
well, right now it is just serving the purpose of four inputs simultaneously via usb, what i mean is that the inputs work, but tascam has not released updates to the drivers to enable track control or transport control in cakewalk. I used it with cubase 4 and it worked great, but i'd rather take a sharp stick in the eye than use cubase.
tascam sais there will be support for cakewalk by november, we'll see. but the inputs alone are an excellent addition to any computer based studio, if you think about it. I'm using three different internal sound cards at the same time right now plus the tascam and they all get along just fine.
(I'm using three sound cards to allow myself to record a total of ten tracks at once, this would be much easier if someone would just cough up an echo layla card or motu 2408 mkII at a decent price, if anyone who reads this knows someone............. mail me, aaron@tah-usa.net) anyway, overall i think it's a great piece of blue equipment.
and i look forward to being able to control tracks levels with it very soon.......... L8r -Aaron
