I have had my us 144 for a few years now and love it. no issues, (other than lack of channels, but thats beside the point and a different topic), till now. now im getting a little more intricate with my recordings and mixes, so i need to get this right. oh, and i use cubase 5. When i play back through the monitors, both sides work just fine. recording in mono and setting the sides, panning, or just recording in stereo works all fine and plays back great through my monitor speakers. but when i play back through the headphones i can only hear in one side. even when i monitor the input on the interface, its only in one side, even with the mono switch on. i know it sounds stupid, but, is there a certain way to set up the headphones?

ive tried different headphones, so i know thats not it. its not the vst settings or device input because like i mentioned earlier, the output to my speakers works great. unless im supposed use different settings for headphones, im beginning to think that its the headphone jack. i dont know much about the hardware and how its built, but has anyone had, or heard of, of an issue with the headphone jack gettin screwed up? cuz after hours of searching and messing around with the settings, im about to give up and tell my wife i need a new toy for christmas = )

all in all, im just hoping its some little detail i missed in the setup.

any advice would be awesome, thanks.

Are you by chance using one of those 1/4" to 1/8" adapters for the headphones? Those are notorious for going to crap.

yeah, i am. i think today ill pick up a new one and see how that goes. that would be great if thats all that it is

hmm.. no dice. i used it on a little practice amp i have and it worked just fine. im lookin at getting that tascam us-800 thats only $99... very tempting. any reason not to go for that one?

Bummer. That would have been the cool easy fix. I'd recommend the 800.
