I've been using my US-122 for about a year and I think it's great at its price point.

Recently I added a mixer that I've been going into the line inputs on the US-122 with so I can record more than two sources.

My question is this: Am I truly bypassing the US-122 Preamps? The volume controls still effect the signal. Perhaps if the US-122 came with a schematic, I wouldn't have to ask this.

Thanks,

JD

No, I don't think it is a true bypass, but the line-in with the gain all the way off is as good as it gets with that unit for a bypass. You may still be going through the preamp circuitry, buy you aren't adding any gain. The preamps are pretty neutral, ime, anyway, so I don't think it will affect your sound much.

Thanks, Scrubs. I'm using a Yamaha MG10/2, and it's doing a fine job for mics as well as for a Bass DI. I also use it with keys (Roland VK8) and I'm quite satisfied there. Every one around here (the board) is obsessed with pre-amps, and I kind of want to jump on the bandwagon with a brick or electroharmonix box for vocals. I was just wondering if I was totally bypassing the US-122's in weighing the pros/cons of such a purchase.
