Well here I am (again) starting all over. I just got a new computer and will soon be adding a new soundcard and recording software. I'm running XP with plenty of memory (200 g) I was useing Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 and a Soundblaster Live soundcard which has served most of my needs, but I am looking to find something a little more versatal and easier to work with. Any product advice, recomendations or warnings would save me a lot of frustration and make my upgrade desisions a lot easier. Thanks for any help (omg I sound like a newbie!!!)

By the way my recording needs are pretty simple, mostly electric guitar, electric bass, drums, some keyboard and vocals, nothing complicated.

I would highly recommend the m-audio Delta series cards...very reliable and fair priced. Need to think about your needs for I/O

Software ? Plenty of choices
Naturally, I have to say LOGIC 5.7 or less for WIN XP
You can pick it up on ebay for a fraction of the cost.

hey sscientist, i'm thinking of picking up the Echo Gina 3G and it comes with Tracktion free. I would use Traction for the Final Cut plug in that comes with it if it is worth anything. Have you had any experience with it? is it a worthy mastering plug in?

Dar-

Dunno. I've never d/loaded it because I have this fear of doing my own mastering which I have always equated with home dentistry and self-surgery. If it's made by Raw Material it's gotta be stable and near-bulletproof, which are two attributes of Tracktion that I prize quite highly.

I'm afraid that rather than me being your source you will have to be mine... :D
