The Devil Has Blue Eyes
Hi All,

Currently I'm running a computer with Windows Vista 32-bit and Sonar X1 32-bit. I am upgrading my computer and in the process will be upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit and Sonar X1 64-bit. Will I still be able to add to my current projects? Any other issues I should know about?

Thanks,

ROK

I was trying out Reaper's 64 bit version on Mac OSX, and my Waves plugins would not run. When I ran 32bit Reaper, they were fine.

I've been using Reaper 64 bit for several months now and all has been well. I don't have Waves though. I use Windows 7 64 Bit

Thanks. So when you upgraded the OS and DAW were you still able to add to projects that you had recorded when using 32 OS and DAW?

Make sure your audio interface has 64 bit drivers available...

BR, how do I check that? I know X1 (the latest version of Sonar) can install in both 32 bit or 64 bit...Is this sufficient?

I just upgraded not that long ago. No problems so far. Latency went from 7ms to 9ms, but I can work with that. To fix this issue I am grabbing up E-Mu 1616m PCi on the weekend with all 64bit drivers. My E-mu 1212 unfortunately does not - the issue with hardware.
Anyone hear of being able to update drivers? I've only ever just bought new equipment.

Hey Jesus,

When you say no issues, did you have projects recorded previously that you are still able to work with after the upgrade?

Thanks,

ROK

I was going to install x64 Reaper on x64 Windows XP, when a messaged popped up telling me that I appear to not be running a 64-bit OS. How is the 64-bit version of Windows XP not a 64-bit operating system? So, I just installed the x86 software instead. No big deal, as long as I have something usable.
